Founder and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board

 

The founder and chairman of the scientific advisory board of the management consultancy Homburg & Partner, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Christian Homburg, holds the chair for marketing and is director of the Institute for Market-Oriented Management (IMU) at the University of Mannheim.

Prof. Homburg is one of the few German management professors who have also attracted great international attention. Today, Prof. Homburg is on the editorial boards of several trade journals in the USA and Germany. He has received several awards for his scientific work from the American Marketing Association, the world’s leading scientific association in the field of marketing.

In the current ranking of the AMA, he ranks second worldwide for his research productivity between 2007 and 2017 in the most influential marketing journals. In addition, he was honored by the Handelsblatt Ranking for Business Administration 2012 in the “Top 250 Researchers for Lifetime Achievement” category as the most research proficient business administration professor in Germany. Over 3,000 scientists and researchers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were included in the ranking.

Managing director & partner

Dr. Sven Kühlborn has been with Homburg & Partner since January 2000 and has played a key role in shaping the company’s growth as managing director. As head of the Competence Centre for Construction, he advises companies in the areas of market strategy, sales and pricing as well as market-oriented business management.

His expertise is based on more than 20 years of professional experience in consulting and sound industry knowledge. Dr. Sven Kühlborn studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, majoring in mechanical engineering. Following that, he achieved his doctorate at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Mannheim. Prior to joining Homburg & Partner, Dr. Sven Kühlborn gained professional experience in Germany and the USA.

Managing director & partner

Dr. Michael Scholl has been with Homburg & Partner since January 2000 and has played a key role in shaping the company’s growth as managing director. He heads the competence centers Pharma, Consumer Healthcare and Information Technology and has supported more than 500 projects, of which many were international. His focus is on strategic consulting for profitable growth.

Dr. Michael Scholl holds a degree in business administration and completed an interdisciplinary degree in business administration, economics, sociology and psychology with a focus on marketing at the University of Trier. He spent a year at the University of Bergamo (Italy) with a scholarship for business administration and international marketing. Having gained the sponsorship of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, he authored his dissertation on multi-channel management at the University of Mannheim. As an expert on market strategy, strategic distribution and price argumentation, he has authored over 100 publications in national and international magazines and books.

Mark Schröder is managing director at Homburg & Partner. Along with this, he also directs the Industrial Goods and Services Competence Center as a partner. The aim of his consulting activities is to measurably increase the market success of his clients. His work focuses on price management, market strategy, brand management and sales excellence as well as dealer management and incentive systems.

In his consulting career, Mark Schröder has led more than 50 national and international projects and has extensive international experience. In addition, he developed a methodology for pricing and implementing spare parts and is considered a pioneer in this area. Mark Schröder regularly publishes pieces on marketing, sales and pricing in industrial companies. He holds a Diplom degree in industrial engineering from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) where he studied with a focus on market-oriented corporate planning.

Alexander Lüring has been with Homburg & Partner since 2005 and directs the Private Equity and Chemicals Competence Centers as a partner. Throughout his time at Homburg & Partner, Alexander Lüring has been responsible for more than 200 consulting projects. In addition to large corporations (DAX, MDAX), Alexander Lüring advises many medium-sized companies and financial investors on value enhancement and growth programs. His expertise lies in particular in the areas of strategy development, Sales Excellence and Pricing Excellence. Alexander Lüring is an expert in M&A and has built up our Private Equity Competence Centre.

He has advised on over 70 corporate transactions in recent years, most of them with commercial due diligence mandates. Due to the large number of projects and his experience in a variety of industries, Alexander Lüring is well acquainted with the market challenges that large corporations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises face. His well-founded, value-oriented and hands-on approach to work sets him apart. Our customers appreciate Alexander Lüring’s experience and in particular his integrative, friendly and positive manner in the project business. In addition to his consulting activities, Alexander Lüring regularly publishes in magazines and books on topics related to his core competencies. Alexander Lüring holds a Diplom degree in economics from the University of Cologne.

As a partner, Markus Pfeifer is responsible for his own competence center in the Industrial Goods and Services sector cluster. He strives to achieve sustainable and measurable success in the areas of market orientation, profitability and growth with concepts that are feasible for his customers. His work focuses on market strategy, sales and pricing strategies, organizational development and after-sales service strategies.

Since 2005, Markus Pfeifer has managed a large number of national and international projects for various capital goods manufacturers, including component manufacturers, machine builders and plant constructors as well as system integrators. International DAX and MDAX corporations are among his long-standing customers, as are traditional, medium-sized companies. After two positions at other consulting firms, Markus Pfeifer joined the Homburg & Partner team in 2011. He studied business administration at the European Business School (ESB) in Reutlingen and at the Ecole de Commerce in Reims (France).

Karl-Hubertus Gruber is responsible for the Medical Technology Competence Center in the Healthcare Industry Cluster. His consulting focuses include the areas of growth strategy, international pricing and pricing processes, market entry strategies for innovative medical products as well as the conception and evaluation of new products.

Since 2009, Karl-Hubertus Gruber has carried out numerous projects for leading medical technology companies, start-ups and pharmaceutical companies in various European and non-European countries. Karl-Hubertus Gruber holds a degree in business administration and studied marketing, finance, banking and statistics at the University of Mannheim and the Università Luigi Bocconi in Milan.

As a partner in the Munich office, Daniel Antolin heads his own competence center in the Industrial Goods and Services sector cluster. His consulting focuses include market strategy, Sales Excellence, digital transformation, organizational and process development as well as pricing strategies. His goal is always to help his clients achieve measurable, sustainable success. Since 2007, Daniel Antolin has been responsible for a large number of projects with a predominantly international focus and has advised companies from Europe, America and Asia.

He equally advises large corporations and small and medium-sized companies in the industrial goods sector, including component manufacturers, machine and plant manufacturers as well as various system, solution and service providers. Daniel Antolin is a Diplom graduate in business administration. In his studies, his focus was on international management and strategic marketing at the University of Bayreuth. After completing his training there as an industrial clerk, he worked for several years for a leading global technology group.

Christian is a partner in the Mannheim / Frankfurt office of Homburg & Partner. He is a member of the core group of the Healthcare Management Team and responsible for the (Bio-) Pharma Competence Center. His focus is on the healthcare, (bio-) pharmaceutical, biosimilar and generics industries and has particular expertise in market access & pricing, strategy, marketing & sales (digital, multichannel), transformation & organization.

His therapeutic focus is on (immune) oncology, hematology and rare diseases. Christian studied business administration (Master of Science) with a focus on strategy and finance at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management (Leipzig, Germany) and EADA (Barcelona, Spain). Christian lives in Frankfurt with his wife and two children.

Daniel Lindner directs the focus area ‘pricing’ within the industry cluster ‘Industrial Goods & Services’ as a partner. He strives to unleash the potentials of an increasingly digitalized world for his clients, achieving lasting success through state-of-the-art pricing solutions. His specialization lies in the topics of pricing strategy, pricing controlling, and pricing models – for analogue and digital products. Also, Daniel Lindner is responsible for PRIMA, Homburg & Partner’s own software for holistic price management.

Since 2012, Daniel Lindner has led more than 75 consulting projects for market-leading and mid-sized clients from the mechanical engineering and systems engineering industries, as well as component manufacturers. Before that, he studied Business Studies (B.A.) and International Management (M.Sc.) at Erlangen-Nuremberg University and worked for several large consulting firms.

His key topics are sales organization, sales controlling, and sales incentivization, along with international large-scale price harmonization projects. Applying individual and pragmatic solutions, he achieves measurable and lasting success for his clients.

Since 2012, Benjamin Thelen has led a large number of projects for clients of different sizes, ranging from international market leaders to mid-sized companies from the industrial sector. After finishing his studies in Business Administration at Cologne University, his MBA at the Technical University Munich and a previous engagement at a different consulting firm, Benjamin became part of Homburg & Partner in 2018.
