Pricing Intelligence is the knowledge of the effects of one’s own and competitive pricing on the consumption behavior of customers as well as on one’s own product margin.

Pricing Intelligence enables a sustainable optimization of the pricing strategy in comparison to competitors and differs from other pricing approaches by the accuracy of the competitive analysis. This accuracy is usually made possible by using modern data mining techniques. The Pricing Intelligence process typically comprises the following four steps:

  1. Product pages of predefined competitors are searched with the help of webcrawlers.
  2. Algorithms match identical products on different websites using metadata.
  3. Price, shipping or availability information from competitors is extracted and collected in a central database.
  4. Automated analyses and reports are generated from the databases.
